For most people the process of receiving routine packages is pretty standard, you grab them out of your mailbox or you pick them up from your doorstep.
For Timothy Walker, it was a different scenario.
Video from his home security camera captures a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service delivering his package, all while never even getting out of the car.
Walker says he contacted the supervisor at Drew station post office here in Lake Charles to notify them of what happened, however he feels like it's a problem that will only continue until it's properly addressed.
"We see them come to the front door and we observe them on the cameras dropping the packages, some of these items are fragile, we can hear when they're hitting the ground, how hard they're dropping the packages," Walker said.
It's a loss of integrity he feels that has grown over time.
"This was something that I never thought I would see, that a mail carrier would back up and just toss the package literally out of the window without any attempt to try and deliver it to the front door."
7News reached out to USPS and they sent the following statement:
A mishandled package is unacceptable and does not reflect the careful efforts of the thousands of professional, dedicated employees in our workforce. We were disappointed to see the actions of the carrier in the video and apologize for any inconvenience. Local management at the Drew Post Office is researching the matter and will follow up with employees to reaffirm existing guidelines governing how to correctly handle mail and packages.
USPS continues to say they are looking into the matter. While Walker's just glad the box only contained nursing scrubs for his wife.
Customers with concerns about their mail service can contact their local Post Office or the USPS Customer Care Center at 1-800-ASK-USPS.
