For quarterback J.T. Barrett, not hearing his name called on draft day was tough, but he quickly got over it.
"I guess I was down but it was kind of like I didn't get picked," Barrett told reporters." So, it was outside of my control is the best way to put it. So, I guess I didn't dwell on it too long. I did have calls, fortunately go to play places."
One being New Orleans. And the Big Ten's all-time leader touchdown passes jumped at the chance to work with one of the best offensive minds and quarterbacks in the NFL.
" From afar, I love the saints organization. How they run things is top level, top notch, high end of the NFL when you talk about the Saints."
His first on-field work came this weekend at rookie mini camp and his head coach liked what he saw.
"There is a leadership presence about him," Payton said. "He is an athlete. He has played a lot of competitive football and he has handled this camp very well. (he has) a lot of the things that you look for in that position. He was certainly worthy of being drafted and he has done a good job here."
