BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

A change on a major Bossier City roadway could make morning commutes easier for drivers.

The Bossier Parish Police Jury recently finished a project near Parkway High School to deal with the heavy traffic from Barksdale Blvd and Sligo Road.

“They’ve finished putting up the guard rail separating the new lane and the railroad ditch and we expect them to have the striping down next week,” said Bossier Parish Engineer Butch Ford.

“This should make it much easier for northbound traffic to travel through the intersection. Traffic westbound on Sligo Rd. turning right to the southbound lanes will have to merge into traffic using the new acceleration lane.”

The area has grown over the years with the extension of the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway and the building of Parkway High School.

Now, parents and other drivers will hopefully see things moving a little faster.

Bossier leader say the lane should be striped and ready to open as early as next week.
