It’s a clean sweep for the Black and Gold with rookie awards this year. Saints cornerback takes home AP Defensive Rookie of the Year. He joins fellow first-year standout Alvin Kamara who won AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Lattimore’s five interceptions this season were the most among rookie players and tied for fifth-best in the league. Most notable is the way he always seemed to force turnovers in clutch situations. His “butt interception” against the Falcons on Christmas Eve was a game-changer. He helped ice the game against the Bears picking off Mitch Trubisky in the fourth quarter, and he returned one for a touchdown in a shootout against the Lions in week six.
The former Ohio State Buckeye was also a Pro Bowl selection, and, like Kamara, he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
