HOUSTON, TX (KXXV) -

Police have discontinued an Amber Alert for a 6-week-old girl from Houston. Police said the missing baby was located on Thursday.

According to Houston police, they arrested suspect  Erika Jisela Miranda-Alvarez on Thursday morning.

Police said the suspect had recently had a miscarriage, and she was hiding it from her boyfriend. Police said in a press conference that Miranda-Alvarez was due in January, and continued to fake her pregnancy after she miscarried.

Police believe Miranda-Alvarez killed the baby's mother and kidnapped the baby as an attempt to continue to hide the miscarriage.

According to the Associated Press, the baby's mother, 33-year-old Carolina Flores, was found fatally stabbed in her apartment

Miranda-Alvarez has been charged with capital murder. Her boyfriend hasn't been charged at this time.

Police found the missing baby, Shamali Flores, in a southwest Houston apartment. They said she appears unharmed and is being checked at a local hospital as a precaution.

Police initially believed the baby's father, Marcos Mariano Tomas Palacios, 34, was a person of interest. He and his vehicle were found around 11 p.m. Tuesday. When he was located, he told police he was not involved in the murder or the child's disappearance.

ABC News reported that Miranda-Alvarez was friends with the victim's brother.
