Record February heat will continue for the rest of the week. Every day through Saturday will be near or above record levels with highs in the 80s.

A surge of Gulf moisture will arrive on Friday with a better chance for showers. This may hold temperatures just below record levels, but it will still be very warm for February.

If these trends continue, it will likely be our warmest February on record at the airport where records date back to 1946.

A chance for a change in this warm pattern will come Sunday when a cold front will finally push through the area. A few storms are possible with scattered showers around. Temperatures will drop into the 70s for highs on Sunday. Rain chances will continue Monday with highs in the upper 60s which is closer to average this time of year.

It looks like warmer weather will return by the middle of next week.
