LSU head coach Ed Orgeron previewed the upcoming battle against Alabama during his weekly Lunch with Coach O news conference Monday.
KICKOFF: Saturday at 7 p.m. in Bryant-Denny Stadium (Tuscaloosa, AL)
RADIO: WDGL-FM, 98.1; WWL-AM, 870; WWL-FM, 105.3; KLWB-FM, 103.7
SERIES: Alabama leads 51-25-5
LAST MEETING: Alabama - 10, LSU - 0 (Nov. 5, 2016 in Tiger Stadium)
Orgeron said Alabama's offensive line is well coached. He said the players are big, strong, and physical. He described Damien Harris is "thick and has a big trunk."
He added LSU's offensive line has to protect quarterback Danny Etling. He emphasized it is the key to the game. According to Orgeron, everything with the offensive starts with blocking Alabama up front.
According to Orgeron, Etling has to be patient, make the right throws, and make the right decisions to be successful on Saturday.
Coach O was asked about LSU being a 21-point underdog.
"We're getting on that plane to win a football game," Orgeron said. "That's going to be our attitude."
He also said offensive lineman KJ Malone is questionable.
Both No. 19 LSU (6-2, 3-1 SEC) and No. 1 Alabama (8-0, 5-0 SEC) are coming off bye weeks. The Tide is currently riding a six-game win streak against the Tigers.
Alabama's defense held LSU's offense to only 125 total yards last year. This year, the Tide is No. 1 in both scoring and total defense in the country. LSU is No. 28 and No. 23 respectively in those categories.
