Texas A&M hires new sports performance coach

COLLEGE STATION, TX (KXXV) -

On Thursday, Texas A&M announced Kayln Sticher will be joining the Aggies as the new sports performance coach.

This past school year,  Sticher was the athletic performance and nutrition assistant for the Baylor Bears. She worked with numerous programs including women’s tennis, soccer, track, volleyball, acrobatics, softball, football and men's and women’s basketball.

Previously, Sticher was a student assistant in strength and conditioning at the University of Missouri. In Missouri, she worked with the women’s tennis, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s track and field, gymnastics and football. In December 2013, she completed her master’s degree in educational school and counseling psychology from the University of Missouri.

Sticher also held the position of student assistant in strength and conditioning at Northern Arizona University, where she earned her bachelor degree in exercise science. In Arizona, she worked with programs such as the women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis, football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and soccer.

During her time in Northern Arizona, Sticher was a member of the women’s basketball team, earning Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete honors.

Sticher will work primarily with the women;s basketball program at Texas A&M University.

“Kayln gives us the energy and the experience we are looking for in this position, and we’re excited to have her,” said Gary Blair, Texas A&M women’s basketball head coach. “She has worked with a number of sports teams and is a former basketball player, so she understands the rigors of going through a season.”
