A Rebel made history Monday in Illinois.
Ole Miss sophomore golfer Braden Thornberry fired a final round 71 to win the 2017 NCAA Men's Golf Championship. He's the first Rebel golfer to win a national title.
The highlight of Thornberry's round was the par 4 6th. The Olive Branch native drove the green and drained a breaking putt for an eagle.
Braden won his 5th tournament of the 2016-17 season. He's a favorite to lift the Haskins Award, the honor that goes to the nation's top collegiate golfer.
Thornberry will get a taste of the PGA Tour next week. He received a sponsor's exemption to play in the FedEx St. Jude Classic.
