The Industrial gate at Barksdale Air Force Base will close Wednesday morning because of railroad construction.
The closure will start at 7:50 a.m. and last through the afternoon. Construction is expected to wrap up by 3:30 p.m.
Commercial traffic will be rerouted to the north gate using the inner lane. The vehicles will be in the lane of traffic up to the final barrier where they will be searched. Once the vehicles are cleared and have visitor passes, they will continue straight on Davis Avenue to their final destination.
Regular vehicle traffic will be routed through the outside lane through the Barksdale Club parking lot.
If the commercial vehicles overwhelm the inner lane, the outbound lane will temporarily close to keep the flow of inbound traffic.
Air Force officials recommend either arriving at the base before the construction begins or plan for extra time or take a different route into the base.
