SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Three teens are in custody after police say they were caught breaking into Byrd High School Wednesday morning.

Kenneth Morris, 17, of Shreveport and two other juveniles were taken into police custody. Each was charged with one count of simple burglary and one count of resisting arrest, according to a news release from Shreveport police spokeswoman Cpl. Angie Whilhite.

Shreveport police say they saw the burglars running away after they broke in and began chasing them just before 1:30 a.m.

The 16-year-old was bitten by a K-9 during the chase, according to police. He was taken to University Health for treatment.

Police say that two juveniles were taken into custody had stolen items in their possession as well as tools used in the burglary.

The third burglar was able to get away at first and was later caught and taken into custody, according to police.

Morris was booked into Shreveport City Jail and two juveniles were booked into Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center.
