BARKSDALE AFB, LA (KSLA) -

The Barksdale Airforce Base has announced that there will be a memorial service for the airman who died after a weekend ATV accident in East Texas.

Authorities say the service for SSgt Kelsey Reed will be held on April 18 at 3:00 p.m. in Hoban Hall.

Friends of Reed say they were having a pre-deployment party when the accident happened near the Oklahoma state line.

The 23-year-old was pronounced dead at an East Texas Medical Center in Tyler at 7:25 p.m., April 12.

"I mean no matter how bad of a day you were having, she could turn it around just by looking at you and smiling. The biggest, brightest smile," said Kayli Bailey, who said she had known Reed since middle school.

Reed was a Family Health Medical Journeyman assigned to the 2nd Medical Operation Squadron. She joined the Air Force in 2012.
