(RNN) - Polaris has recalled its Sportsman 850 and 1000 all-terrain vehicles because of potential fire and burn hazards.

The right side panel heat shield can melt, which could burn the riders, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. In addition, in 2015 Sportsman 1000 ATVs, the exhaust springs can stretch and damage the exhaust seal, which can cause exhaust leaks and pose burn and fire hazards.

Polaris has received at least 793 incidents, including reports of warped, melted and burned side panels. There were 47 reports of fires and four minor burn injuries.

Consumers should immediately stop using the ATVs and contact Polaris to schedule a free repair. Polaris is also directly contacting all known purchasers. The units were sold nationwide from May 2014 through March 2017 at costs ranging from $8,500 to $15,000.

Here is a list of all 2015 and 2016 models. Polaris is printed on the front grill and "Sportsman 850" or "Sportsman 1000" is printed on the side of the steering column. The ATVs were sold in several colors.

The Polaris website has a page that will allow you to search the recalls by VIN (vehicle identification number). The same page will allow searches by brand, model year and model.
