MILLER COUNTY, AR (KSLA) -

A man was beneath a bed and another was under a couch when authorities went searching for vintage signs that had been stolen.

Now both men are in custody in Miller County, Ark.

Sheriff's investigators were looking into a theft Sunday morning from the 7000 block of Blackman Ferry Road (Arkansas Highway 237).

That led them to search a residence at 3 p.m. Sunday in the 6900 block of McClure Road, the sheriff's office reports.

Deputies said that's where they recovered stolen antique gas station signs and found guns and drugs, specifically methamphetamine.

Authorities have since booked 39-year-old Tobey Lee McCarley, the one found under the couch, and 36-year-old Brian David Mudd into the Miller County Detention Center.

Both now face one count each of theft by receiving, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McCarley also is charged with one count of simultaneous possession of narcotics and a firearm.

Deputies say several of the vintage signs still are missing.

Authorities urge anyone with any information about this case or the sale or purchase of such signs this weekend to call the Miller County Sheriff Office at (870) 774-3001.
