SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport man is accused of shooting a man he found hiding in his bedroom closet.

Treveion Montrell Thomas, 20, is being held in Caddo Correctional Center.

He is accused of twice shooting 18-year-old Nicholas Mitchell, of the 1600 block of DeSoto Street in Shreveport, on Saturday.

Caddo sheriff's investigators say a woman invited Mitchell into Thomas' home at Bayou Rouge Apartments in the 7700 block of East Kings Highway while Thomas was away.

After being shot once, Mitchell ran to the door, where he was shot again. Thomas continued firing warning shots toward Mitchell as he ran away from the apartment, authorities said.

Mitchell then collapsed in a nearby ditch. He was taken to University Health in Shreveport for treatment.

A search of Thomas' apartment turned up several handguns, one of which had been stolen, drug paraphernalia and about 164 grams of marijuana, sheriff's Detective Matthew Lucky said.

Thomas was booked into Caddo Correctional at 7:09 p.m. Oct. 17 on 1 count each of aggravated second-degree battery, illegal carrying of weapons, illegal possession of stolen firearms, distribution of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bonds total $170,600.
