SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Shreveport police are searching for a jail inmate they say escaped from University Health Friday morning.
Police are looking for 24-year-old Ralphell Young who they say escaped from the hospital around 3:30 a.m. It is unclear if he is considered dangerous.
Young was arrested Thursday morning for his role in an attempted kidnapping and for domestic abuse charges. He is accused of beating a woman and trying to force her into a car on Wednesday.
Police say Young was taken to the hospital after he complained he had possible nerve damage following his arrest. He escaped as officers were putting him in a vehicle to take him back to the city jail.
Young was last seen wearing a Shreveport City Jail orange jumpsuit. He is described as 5'10"-5'11" and 190 pounds with a tattoo on his neck.
Police believe Young has a home in the 4000 block of Elliot Avenue in west Shreveport.
Police, including K9 officers, initial concentrated their search around the hospital but have since scaled back and spread out.
A warrant for Young's arrests has been issued charging him with simple escape. Bond on that charge has been set at $500,000.
Anyone with information on where Young may be is asked to contact Shreveport police or call Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. A reward is being offered for information leading to his capture.
