BOWIE COUNTY, TX (KSLA) -

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers have released the name of the woman who was fatally struck by a car over the weekend.

She has been identified as 50-year-old Kimberly Jones from Hooks, TX.

Troopers say Jones was walking on the wrong side of the road when she was hit.

It happened shortly after 9 p.m., when investigators say a driver said he thought he hit a woman along Barkman Creek Rd (FM 1398) near Shiloh Rd. west of Leary. When the driver went back to check, however, he couldn't find anyone.

When police arrived and looked around the area, they found Jones lying in the road.

No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
