Weather Wonders: Heat advisory

A heat advisory remains in effect for the entire ArkLaTex through 7 p.m. Wednesday.

A heat advisory is issued when hot temperatures and high humidity levels combine to create an uncomfortable and particularly dangerous situation where heat related illnesses become possible. Heat Index values greater than 105° and overnight lows greater than 75° need to be present for 2 or more days for an advisory to be issued.

If you will be spending any extended period of time outdoors, make sure you drink plenty of water and try to take as many breaks from the heat as possible. This stifling heat will not be going anywhere for the next few days as heat indices will reach nearly 105° through the weekend.
