TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) - A former Liberty-Eylau High School student is accused of sexually assaulting a current student on campus earlier this week.
According to the Liberty-Eylau ISD Police Department, it happened on Monday in an area of the school that students should not have had access to.
School officials say the victim was attending summer school, but classes were not in session at the time.
Officials say the victim's parents reported the incident to them on Tuesday, and identified 17-year-old Denzel Green as the attacker.
That prompted an investigation, leading to Green's arrest on a charge of sexual assault.
"We are looking at all details of the case trying to determine what happened and we are trying to figure out what led up to this point just to see if there is anything from our side that we need to address as far as safety issues," said district spokesman Matt Fry.
Green, who recently graduated from the high school, was a track star and football player who was offered a scholarship to play at Stephen F. Austin College.
He is currently being held at the Bi-State Justice Center.
