BOWIE COUNTY, TX (KSLA) -

The Bowie County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a Bowie County Annex Jail inmate died Saturday morning.

Deputies say around 4:15 a.m. inmates asked jail staff for assistance when 40-year-old Staci Rochelle Washington was found laying on the floor of her cell.

Correctional officers arrived at her cell to find she was responsive, but unable to speak with the officers. The jail medical staff removed Washington from the cell in a wheelchair to take her to the infirmary.

By the time they arrived at the infirmary, Washington's pulse had weakened. Deputies say the medical staff began CPR on Washington and called for an ambulance to take her to the hospital.

According to deputies, Washington died before Life Net personnel arrived.

Investigators say that no signs of foul play were involved with Mrs. Washington's death. Her body was sent off for an autopsy.

Washington was being held for a probation violation for theft.
