1 arrested following fatal shooting in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport teen is facing charges as a result of a deadly shooting Tuesday morning.

Shreveport police are investigating the shooting that happened just after 9:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Wilkinson Street.

Police Cpl. Marcus Hines said 17-year-old Joshua Clark was in a car parked along the shoulder of Barret Street at the intersection of Wilkinson Street when he was shot.

Joshua Clark was taken to University Health hospital by a private vehicle where he later died.

He was reportedly in the car with 18-year-old DaMarcia Clark. Police believe DaMarcia was mishandling a handgun resulting in the weapon firing and fatally wounding Joshua Clark.

"Playing with a gun, and it shot my baby and they are charging my grandson with manslaughter," said Mary Clark who is the mother of the victim and the grandmother of the suspect.

He's sorry, it was an accident," said Chantel Clark who is the mother of the suspect and the sister of the victim.
[endif]DaMarcia Clark was booked into Shreveport City Jail on charges of manslaughter.
