NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A survey conducted by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry Wednesday revealed about 871 acres, 4 buildings, 1 truck and 2 tractors burned in the wildfire near the Gorum/Flatwoods communities on Tuesday.
The fire was reported just after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's deputies, along with parish district fire departments 4 and 5, the Flatwoods Fire Department and state and U.S. Forest Service emergency crews were on the scene along Hwy. 119 near Gorum, La. all day Tuesday.
Hwy. 119 from Derry to Flatwoods was closed for a portion of Tuesday.
Captain Tony Moran with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office said the roadway was later reopened, but motorists are advised to drive carefully in the area and pay attention to the roadway while fire crews remain in the area monitoring the scene.
According to LDAF, the acreage burned consists of timber company, privately owned and US Forest Service land.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the US Forest Service in conjunction with LDAF.
No injuries were reported.
