(KSLA) -

A beauty blogger with East Texas ties has an article in the January issue of Cosmopolitan magazine about the lack of foundation options for women of color.

It's the latest by Marshall, Texas, native Andrea Arterberry, a freelance style and beauty writer who is writing her way to a dream career and trying to prove there's much more to beauty than what's skin deep.

Arterberry has had work published in Essence Magazine and Allure. Just last month, the Dallas resident wrote a hot topic piece for the New York Times titled "Does Anyone Own the Cornrow?" Right now on stands is the Cosmopolitan article.

Whether Arterberry is talking about makeup magic or equality in the beauty industry, she is working to make the world more beautiful, one article at a time.

While home for the holidays, Arterberry  joined KSLA News 12 in the studio the morning of Dec. 22 to discuss her career and what inspired her to write the Cosmopolitan article.

She also shares one beauty tip women must know for 2016.
