Have you ever looked at the 7-day forecast and wondered what exactly the rain chances mean? It is a very popular question that we receive in the StormTracker 12 weather center.
For instance, if the rain chances are at 60%, does that mean that it will rain 60% of the day? Nope. How about 60% of the area will see rain? Not quite.
Rain chances actually mean that somewhere in the region has a 60% chance of seeing measurable rain during the course of the day. For rain to be measurable it has to be equal to, or greater than 0.01".
