The largest Veteran's parade in the state of Louisiana will be taking place this Sunday at the Shreveport fairgrounds for Veterans and Military Appreciation Day.
"It's an important day for us. It's actually the largest Veteran's parade in the state of Louisiana. And it's been growing each year. The Veteran's Celebration committee has been working hard on this all year," said State Fair of Louisiana President and General Manager Chris Giordano.
All active, retired and former military members and their families will enjoy free parking and admission to the State Fair of Louisiana. Gates will be open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
The parade will begin at 2 p.m. with the Victory Belles out of New Orleans performing the National Anthem. Five thousand American flags will be passed out on the fairgrounds. There will also be a flyover and a ceremony at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club.
For the first time in a few weeks, the weather will be dry on Sunday. Temperatures will be much cooler with wind out of the northeast at 5-10 mph during the day. We will be struggling to make it out of the 50s, so make sure to take a jacket!
