The 3rd annual East Texas Oil & Gas Blast 5K is taking off Saturday, October 17 in Carthage, TX. The race begins at Carthage Junior High School football field at 9 a.m.
Avid runners and walkers alike are invited to participate. The Rockwall Running Center will be providing chip timing for all runners. There will be prizes awarded after the race. Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for students. You can register at the event, or online here.
The 5K is sponsored by the Panola Alliance for Wellness (PAW) and the City of Carthage. PAW was formed a few years ago to help promote health and wellness among the residents of Panola County. Money raised from the 5K will go towards a walking trail in Carthage.
It will be a perfectly crisp fall morning on Saturday. A cold front will pass through Friday, bringing in cooler weather for the weekend. Temperatures will be in the lower 60s at the start of the race with wind out of the east at 5-10 mph. Daytime highs will be reaching the mid 70s under clear skies.
