The 13th Annual Natchitoches Meat Pie Festival is serving up hungry festival-goers across the ArkLaTex this weekend.
The event kicks off Friday at 2 p.m. with live entertainment, children's activities, shopping, lots of delicious food and a new addition this year with brew fest. Visitors 21 and up can enjoy the free event featuring Louisiana craft beers from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday evening.
Saturday begins with a 5K fun run bright and early at 8 a.m. Day 2 of the festival begins at 11 a.m. with music by Ambush. You can find a full list of performers here.
The grand finale of the Natchitoches Meat Pie Festival will be a fireworks display with entertainment by Geno Delafose at 9 p.m. Saturday evening.
Unlike last weekend's taste of fall, the summer heat is back. Temperatures will be stifling Friday with daytime highs reaching the upper 90s. We could even reach triple digits. Winds will transition out of the west and northwest on Saturday, but cooler conditions are not likely to infiltrate Natchitoches until the start of the next work week after the passage of a weak cold front. Saturday will begin muggy with temperatures in the mid 70s for the 5K fun run. Daytime highs will reach the mid 90s, once again. No jacket will be needed for the fireworks display at 9 p.m., as temperatures will remain toasty in the upper 70s.
Admission to the festival is free. For more information click here.
