East Texas dancing granny takes social media by storm

WEB EXTRA: Granny dances with reporter

Claudine Haggerty loves to dance, but rarely is she ever caught on camera.

This time, family members pulled out the cell phone and caught her in action and the video has gone viral in only a few days.

The video has been viewed more than 2 million times and shared at least 60,000 times. But Haggerty said she had no idea she was taking Facebook by storm.

"They talking about I saw you on Facebook, what is a Facebook?” said Haggerty.

Haggerty's family made the video on Sunday and within 24 hours the video now being referred to as "dancing granny” took off.

"I put it on Facebook so my brothers and sisters could see and I got up that next morning at it had almost 200,000 hits,” said Beverly Jenkins, Haggerty’s granddaughter.

Haggerty just turned 86-years-old and she's not showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon. She appears mild mannered, but the sound of music changes her whole demeanor.

"Get me some good music and I can get down,” said Haggerty.

Haggerty said her secret to staying young and vibrant is dancing as much as possible.

"I had like 50 people message me on Facebook, telling me how it brought a smile to their face and joy to their heart to see my grandma being able to do all that, she's able to do at her age,” added Jenkins

Message after message of people telling Jenkins just how lucky she is to have a grandmother still so full of life.

We're told that the artist of the song Haggerty was dancing to on the video, Bishop Bullwinkle, has even reached out to the family.
