CPSB asks BESE to put the brakes on PARCC

The Caddo Parish School Board is asking state education leaders to rethink the PARCC test as parents and students express concerns and frustration over the Common Core-aligned assessment. On KSLA News 12 at 5, we'll hear what local educators have to say about the issue and what they're doing to urge the BESE board to put it all on hold - at least for this year.

Also at 5, a Shreveport man convicted of second degree murder was sentenced to life in prison today for the September 12, 2012 shooting death Jason Williams. 

Plus, a man is dead following an apparent freak accident in Texarkana this afternoon. Texarkana, Texas police are still investigating how 61-year-old Jose Andrade became pinned between a backhoe and backhoe boom arm. 

KSLA News 12's Fred Childers has been combing through court documents in the case against Mark Colby. On KSLA News 12 at 6, we'll explain some of what is in those court documents including witness statements and police reports that indicate some friction within the relationship between Colby and Angela Godley, the woman he's accused of murdering.
