Local voters registered at OMV, turned away from polls Tuesday

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - KSLA News 12 received a couple of reports of  local voters being told they're not registered to vote even though they say they did.

The two voters say they registered to vote through their local Office of Motor Vehicles, but when they tried to vote Tuesday they were turned away. Some other parishes reported voters having the same problem.

Wednesday, we spoke with OMV commissioner Stephen Campbell who gave us a run down of the process they use to register you to vote.
Campbell says there are two ways to register to vote through them.

First is electronically at the office. Your attendant will simply log onto the Registrar of Voters Office website and ask you the required information to fill in. It is then submitted to Registrar of Voters where they process it.

The second way is to send in paperwork. Once you have completely the work, it is submitted back to OMV and mailed to the Registrar of Voters Office.

Campbell says he is confident that all required documents were delivered from the OMV to the Registrar of Voters Office on time.
