A fifth suspect is in custody for a 9th Ward shooting that killed two people and injured five others.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, 34-year-old Michael Finnie was arrested Wednesday morning in the 3500 block of Kings Street in Chalmette on two counts of First Degree Murder and five counts of Attempted First Degree Murder.

Investigators believe Finnie was the driver of the vehicle used in the shooting August 10th.

The shooting left two people dead, including a 16-year-old girl, and wounded five others, including a two-year-old boy and a four-year-old boy.

On August 18th, police arrested 23-year-old Joseph Nelson, III and 25-year-old Ashley Shorts. Nelson is charged with two counts of First Degree Murder and five counts of Attempted First Degree Murder.

The NOPD believes Nelson was one of two shooters in this incident. Shorts is charged with conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice. The NOPD believes Shorts assisted one of the shooters involved to help them avoid detection and prosecution.

On August 14, police arrested 20-year-old Blair Taylor and 25-year-old Jeffery Rivers. Taylor is charged with two counts of First Degree Murder and five counts of Attempted First Degree Murder.

The NOPD believes that Taylor was the other shooter in this incident. Rivers is charged with two counts of Principal to First Degree Murder and five counts of Principal to Attempted First Degree Murder.

The NOPD believes Rivers provided the weapon and the vehicle that Taylor used in this incident.
