GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Three Gulfport men are behind bars after allegedly burglarizing a unit at Lyman Village Apartments on Monday. Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania said Joseph Lewis Hayes, 34, Oris Lorenzo Harris Jr., 18, and Jaquarius Jermon Shields, 18, were arrested on Tuesday and charged with residential burglary.

Papania said officers responded to the reported burglary at the apartment complex off Old Highway 49 where witnesses said two black males were seen breaking into a unit and leaving with a suit case. Officials said the men then entered a vehicle and fled the scene.

Papania said investigators developed Hayes, Harris and Shields as suspects in the burglary. Authorities said all three men were arrested at Hayes' residence on 33rd Street on Tuesday.

Papania said Hayes is being held on a $35,000 bond and Shields is being held on a $25,000 bond. According to the Harrison County Jail Docket, Harris is being held without bond.
