WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -
Opera House Theatre Company is finishing up its season with an epic fairy tale musical.
Into the Woods puts a spin on the classic stories of Little Red Ridinghood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Rapunzel and more.
There are also two original characters in the show, the Baker and Baker's Wife, who must fetch a cow, cape, hair and slipper to break a curse that keeps them from having children.
All the characters must venture into the woods to try to make their wishes come true, but it's what happens after they get their wish that brings the story into the real world.
"In the second act, it's a plot twist and it's majorly different and something you would not expect coming," actress Annie Marsh said. "The beauty of it is that it's real life. It's real life things that happen in the second act and the consequences of what it's like when you wish for things."
Some of those consequences are tragic, but the cast believes this musical will appeal to a wide audience.
"This show has so many different messages for every different age," Marsh said. "Kids will love it because it's the basic fairy tales and their favorite characters coming to life on stage, but adults will love it because they get a deeper message."
