Mayoral hopefuls face off at first forum

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Five of the seven Shreveport mayoral candidates faced off in their first debate Tuesday night about issues facing the city.

They responded to questions from a moderator at Southwood High School's auditorium. Councilman Sam Jenkins, educator Victoria Provenza, Representative Patrick Williams, business owner Anna Marie Arpino and former Caddo schools superintendent Ollie Tyler are participating. Local evangelist Melvin Slack and retired teacher Jim Crowley did not participate.

The forum is hosted by the Southern Hills Business and Homeowners Associations and the Women's League of Voters. It is free and open to the public.
