BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -  A federal judge Monday struck down an obscure Baton Rouge gun law calling it unconstitutional.

The 1962 Ordinance reads in short “no guns allowed anywhere alcohol is sold and/or consumed—including the parking lot.”

It's that law that BRPD officers used to arrest Ernest Taylor in October 2012 despite Taylor telling police upfront about the guns and having proper paperwork.

“I got papers on them,” Taylor says.

“It doesn't matter if you have papers or not, you're not supposed to have a weapon in your vehicle,” the officer says.

The 9News Investigators asked BRPD about the ordinance last month – a spokesperson said BRPD will enforce it as long as it's on the books.

Taylor took his case to federal court and won.
