BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Baton Rouge Fire Department and HazMat officials were investigating a fire that happened near the Texaco gas station in the 6900 block of Florida Blvd. Monday afternoon.

Officials say Florida Boulevard from Kenwood Avenue to Donmoor Avenue was closed to traffic for about 20 minutes.

Officials with the Baton Rouge Fire Department initially said fire was shooting out of a drainage system in the gas station parking lot. However, officials now say the fire was in an underground system of wiring, an underground transformer, that caught fire. They believe the insulation around the wiring may have caused the yellow smoke.

Entergy officials are on the scene working to see what caused the fire.

Shangi Chinese Buffet, near the gas station, was evacuated for a short time, but the all-clear has been given.
