JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -
A Jonesboro man was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend with a knife Sunday afternoon, according to a police report.
According to Jonesboro Police, Marcus A. Harris, 37, of Jonesboro was arrested because his story did not add up to the evidence at the crime scene. Harris was charged with domestic battery, terroristic threatening and aggravated assault on a family or household member.
According to Officer Josh Landreth's narrative, officers were called to Harris' home, where he lived with his girlfriend and her daughter.
According to Landreth, the 14-year-old daughter called police and said Harris had stabbed her mother. When Landreth arrived on the scene, he noticed that Harris was bleeding from the top of his left forearm. Harris said that he got into an argument with the girl's mother inside the bathroom when she started stabbing at him several times.
The reported continued, “Harris stated that the entire incident took place in the bathroom.”
When Landreth got a statement from the woman, she told him that she had been arguing with Harris throughout the night. She also said Harris grabbed her, pushed her to the floor and began choking her. She also told Landreth that Harris had threatened to kill her, according to the report.
Officers collected evidence, including blood on the floor of the living room, hallway and a bedroom.
“There was no blood in the bathroom,” the report stated.
Harris was being held in the Craighead County Detention Center awaiting a probable cause hearing.
