SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Tons of performers turned out in Shreveport on Saturday to celebrate one of the greats. This year's James Burton International Guitar Festival was a celebration of Burton's 75th birthday.

This year also marked 62 years in the industry for Burton, and various artists turned out at the Municipal Auditorium to celebrate this milestone. Burton reminisced about memorable moments spent with the king of rock 'n' roll- Elvis Presley.

"We were doing a song on stage one night, and he just looked around and said, 'Play it James,'" Burton said.

"I'm home. Anytime I get an opportunity to come home, it's always cool,” country music artist Trace Adkins said.

"I've listened to James Burton records all of my life. I am a big fan,” guitarist Jimmie Vaughn added.

The show's lineup was full of surprises. Earlier in the day, Priscilla Presley helped to unveil the new statue of Elvis Presley.

Burton plans on welcoming guests to the Municipal Auditorium for many years to come. Several sponsors helped to make the statue possible.
