PV police investigate reported carjacking attempt

PARADISE VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -

Paradise Valley police are trying to verify an attempted carjacking reported by a 20-year-old man early Friday morning.

The victim said he was driving home from work about 5:30 a.m. on McDonald Drive when he stopped at a four-way stop, Lt. Michael Cole said.

The victim said one of three males sitting on a corner pointed a handgun in the air and demanded the victim get out of his 2001 Toyota Corolla, Cole said.

The victim drove around the suspects in the oncoming lane of traffic and drove to his Phoenix home, Cole said.

The victim decided to contact police at the urging of his girlfriend, but he was unable to provide detailed descriptions of the suspects, Cole said.

Police searched the area but didn't find the suspects, Cole said, adding the investigation was continuing.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Paradise Valley Police Department Crime Stopper number at 480-948-7410.
