Lake Charles massage parlor raided, arrests made

Authorities have raided several massage parlors across the state, including one in Lake Charles, and made multiple arrests on prostitution charges.

The massage parlor at 242 W. Hale St., Lake Charles, was raided on Thursday along with five parlors in Lafayette and one in Bossier City.

Kim Myers, spokesperson for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, said the arrests were the result of a 10-month investigation by multiple agencies.

"The Sheriff’s Office Vice Division received complaints of possible prostitution at the parlor," Myers said Friday in a news release. "Detectives learned prostitution activity was being performed inside the massage parlor."

Myers said the investigation also revealed the Asian Massage Parlors operating in Bossier City and Lafayette were also involved in prostitution activity.

Pan Lan Ma, 60, was arrested in Lake Charles. The Lafayette resident was charged with 10 counts promoting prostitution, 10 counts pandering and 10 counts letting a premises for prostitution. Bond was set at $305,000.

Melvin R. Elliot, 67, was arrested in Lake Charles. The Lake Charles resident was charged with 10 counts inciting prostitution and 10 counts pandering. His bond was set at $60,000.

Shuxian Li, 48, was arrested in Lake Charles. The California residents was charged with two counts prostitution by massage. Her bond was set at $5,000.

Maojin Cin, 60, was arrested in Lafayette on a Calcasieu Parish warrant. The Lafayette resident was charged with 10 counts of promoting prostitution, 10 counts of pandering, and 10 counts of letting a premises for prostitution. His bond was set at $305,000.

Yan He Wang, 28, was arrested in Bossier City on a Calcasieu Parish warrant. The Bossier City resident was charged with 10 counts of promoting prostitution, 10 counts of pandering and 10 counts of letting a premises for prostitution. His bond was set at $305,000. He was also charged with pandering in Bossier City.

Qing Shao, 53, was arrested in Bossier City on charges of prostitution by massage and pandering. Her bond was set at $60,000.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vice Detectives, Bossier Vice Detectives, Lafayette Metro Police, FBI and state police were involved in the operation.

Lafayette police attempted to search two additional parlors but they were closed.
