USM School of Music Mary Poppins musical auditions set

This is a news release from the University of Southern Mississippi Music Department

If you are auditioning for Mary Poppins, ALL must do the dance audition on Friday evening AND ALL must do their specific singing/acting audition.
There are no singing only or dancing only parts.

Auditions are open to all students and community members - see schedule below. Accompanist provided - bring sheet music marked and ready. No acapella or auditions with tape/track allowed.

AUGUST 21 - 6 P.M. • SINGING AND ACTING • SOUTHERN MISS STUDENTS ONLY

REQUIREMENTS
Bring 16 bars of TWO musical theatre songs in contrasting styles
that befit the style and potential casting in the show.

Be prepared to perform a monologue of no more than one minute.
Women should perform a monologue in British (RP) dialect.
Men should perform a monologue in British (RP) or Cockney dialect.

 AUGUST 22 - 6 P.M. • DANCING • SOUTHERN MISS AND COMMUNITY AUDITIONEES 

This means that ANYONE who anticipates being cast in the show (adult, child, Southern Miss or community member) must complete a dance audition at this time.

REQUIREMENTS
Wear body conscious, dance appropriate clothing.
Wear character shoes or jazz sneakers.
Bring tap shoes (if possible)

AUGUST 23 - 10 A.M. • SINGING AND ACTING • COMMUNITY CHILDREN
REQUIREMENTS
Bring 16 bars of TWO musical theatre songs in contrasting styles
that befit the style and potential casting in the show.

Be prepared to perform a monologue of no more than one minute.
Boys and girls should perform monologue in British (RP) dialect.

AUGUST 23 - 3 P.M. • SINGING AND ACTING • COMMUNITY ADULTS
REQUIREMENTS
Bring 16 bars of TWO musical theatre songs in contrasting styles
that befit the style and potential casting in the show.

Be prepared to perform a monologue of no more than one minute.
Women should perform monologue in British (RP) dialect.
Men should perform monologue in British (RP) or Cockney dialect. 

AUGUST 24 - 2 P.M. • CALLBACKS (AS NECESSARY)
You may be asked to dance again and/or sing and read for various roles.

All Southern Miss students selected to participate need to register in MUP490 for the Spring semester.
