Those ArkLaTex residents wanting to hear some good music this weekend can do so at the James Burton International Guitar Festival, which starts Friday.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday with Cheers to 75 Years!, the festival's celebration of Burton's 75th birthday. There will be performances from the likes of Flash Back 5, Matthew Davidson Band and The Drag Ship Phantoms. Burton will celebrate on stage by playing a few numbers with other bands from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Things kick off Saturday with the Rockin' Guitars and Cars at 11 a.m., which will feature live music and classic cars. The car show begins at noon, with cars on display on Commerce Street and Elvis Presley Avenue. A grade school talent show starts at 3:30 p.m., in which the winner will walk away with a Fender guitar.

The festival's VIP Reception starts at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium, followed by the main event of the night, James Burton & Friends Concert. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium and will feature performances from Trace Adkins, Vince Gill, Paul Shaffer and more.

The festival will close Sunday with Guitars for Good, a program in conjunction with The Simple Church that will feature Lincoln Brewster. The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium.

All events are free and open to the public except the Saturday's VIP reception and main concert, which require tickets for entrance. For a complete performance line-up or to purchase tickets, click here or the link in the sidebar.
