BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Sheriff Julian Whittington was "arrested" Thursday morning for a good cause.

Whittington was "taken into custody" by Sgt. Johnnie Estess as part of the 2014 Bossier City Lock-Up to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. A warrant was issued and Whittington's bond was set at $800.

The bond was met through donations from family, friends and businesses. As of his arrest, Whittington had more than doubled the amount and was bailed out immediately by raising $1,797 for the MDA.

The MDA works to help cure muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases.
