Trumann city officials are working to raise awareness

TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) -

City officials in Trumann are working to raise awareness about Lou Gerhig's Disease.

You Tube clips are all over the Web of people across the country participating in the ice bucket challenge for ALS.

Today, Trumann police Chief Chad Henson, Mayor Sheila Walters, City Treasurer Marlene Hancock and her husband Floyd got doused with the icey water.

Chief Henson said raising awareness is something everyone should try to do.

"Anything you can do with the community. Any type of breast cancer awareness. I have one of my guys that was affected by that. Anybody that's effected by cancer, the special olympics and this is another one of the things that public servants can do as far as positively raising awareness for something."

Chief Henson said he challenged Craighead County Sheriff Marty Boyd and Chief Deputy Justin Rolland to face the water next.

He's also outing Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin, Chief Mike Yates, and Sheriff Larry Mills with his Chieff Deputy Kevin Moter.
