HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -
A suspect accused of running a South Mississippi pill ring with three other men now has more time to agree to a plea deal. On Wednesday morning, a judge gave Joshua Locke until Friday to agree to a plea.
Locke was arrested in March, along with Dr. Sanjay Sinha, John Mattina and Robert Thornton II, after a three year long Drug Enforcement Agency investigation.
Federal agents claim Sinha wrote hundreds of pain medication prescriptions for profit. Investigators say he does not have a license to operate in Mississippi.
Officials say Locke, Mattina and Thornton are suspected of using their jobs as casino employees to recruit customers.
Mattina has pleaded guilty to one drug related count. He is facing up to 10 years in prison.
Court records show Thornton plans to change his plea to guilty in one of the two federal counts against him. He also faces up to 10 years in prison.
Trial dates for Locke and Sinha are set for Sept. 8.
