SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Firefighters have kept busy battling two house fires across Shreveport Monday night.

Crews responded just before 8 p.m. to a one-story brick home in the 800 block of Captain Shreve Drive not far from Kings Highway. They said a back bedroom suffered moderate fire damage and the rest of the home had smoke damage.

Fire officials at the scene said six elderly people live at the home but no one was home at the time of the fire.

Earlier, the SFD responded to a call at a home at 1312 Wilkinson St. Around 7 p.m. fire crews found the one-story wood frame house belching heavy smoke out of a bedroom at the back of the home.

Crews were able to get insite the home and stop the blaze in the bedroom and attic space above it, sparing the rest of the house.

The fire was brought under control about 20 minutes later. They said the owner came home to find smoke, and entered the bedroom. When he saw the fire, he shut the back door and left the house.

Three adults and three children live at the home, but no one was home when the fire broke out.

No injuries were reported from either of the fires. They both remain under investigation.
