TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

The power is back on Sunday night after thousands of residents were in the dark in Texarkana, Texas.

Spokesman Scott McCloud said a breakdown at the company's Richmond Road substation happened just after 8 p.m. He said 5 major electrical circuits locked out, causing a black-out to 5,300 people.

The power came back on about 10 p.m. to the Pleasant Grove area of the city, mostly north of I30. The area includes CHRISTUS St. Michael hospital which was operating on back-up generators, but is back to full power, officials said.

McCloud is not yet sure what caused the lock-out, but said it may have been due to a fire that was reported at Airline Drive and Richmond Road. A neighbor told KSLA News 12 that he heard a loud noise and saw several streams of arcing electricity when the lights went out.
