Huntsville PTA hosts forum for 9 board candidates

Nine candidates will be answering questions at Monday night's forum, hoping to secure three seats in the Huntsville City school board. This is the second forum held in less than one week. 

Hosted by the Huntsville Council of Parent Teacher Associations, voters will get another chance to ask questions, anonymously submitted by PTA members.

Last Wednesday, candidates discussed topics about STEM, science, technology, and the importance of investing into more development of arts to produce well rounded students.

“We are sitting in the rocket city,” said District 3 candidate Elisa Ferrell. “It is absolutely essential for our children to have STEM education. But those young budding engineers also need to have fine arts mixed in with that. “

Monday's event is scheduled for two hours, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Huntsville High School auditorium. It will be aired live on ETV, as well as streamed online. WAFF 48 News Anchor Liz Hurley is one of the moderators of this event.

The election is scheduled for Aug. 26 during the Huntsville Municipal Elections.
