Motorists in Prattville may experience traffic delays on Saturday due to lane closures on U.S. Highway 31.
According to the Alabama Department of Transportation, the lane closures will alternate in both directions of U.S. Highway 31 between Highway 14 and County Road 12.
The lane closure is a part of the ALDOT's project to resurface that two-lane stretch of U.S. 231. The resurfacing project will add an additional two feet of paved shoulder to the roadway to prevent lane departure crashes.
The lane closures on Saturday will take place during the daylight hours, but the bulk of the resurfacing project will be conducted during the overnight hours.
ALDOT says that the volume of traffic on the weekends is lower than during the week, and therefore the impact of the lane closures is expected to be minimal.
