Cherokee County sheriff detectives arrested a Bullard teenager after she allegedly stole a tractor and took it for a joy ride.
On Monday, August 4, Cherokee County Precinct 3 Road and Bridge Department reported missing equipment, valued over $100,000. Precinct 3 Commissioner Katherine Pinotti said that a 2010 Massey Ferguson tractor with a Caterpillar boom-ax was left at a work area near Bullard at the intersection of Farm to Market 2137 and Country Road 3602 after work on July 30.
Detectives located the tractor on August 7, abandoned in a heavily wooded area near the back of a property in the Lakewood East Subdivision.
A resident of the subdivision told detectives that she saw the tractor driving through a field near the swimming pool on Friday night, but it was too dark to see who was in the cab. With the help of surveillance video, detectives were able to locate suspects, including Erin Lacy Lee, 17, of Bullard.
During an interview with Lee, detectives say she admitted to stealing the equipment and taking it on a "joy ride." She was arrested on August 11 and charged with theft of property. Her bond was set at $25,000.
